I (Tamara Varshavskaya) knew Kolman Turiy when I was very young. Kolman came to our family when he was already a champion. All of us in the family were very proud of him. Immediately he became for all of us very dear and close man. To be short, I want to say that he all his life was a champion, not only in checkers: Kolman was an excellent son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and a friend.

Especially Kolman proved that he is a real champion when he immigrated with his family, not as a young man (54 years old) to America.  Kolman in America continued to be a good engineer and made a lot for progress in a checkers sport.
